Displaying Shahnameh Characters

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – N aghsh-e-Jahan Art Gallery in Tehran is scheduled to open an audiovisual exhibition based on the characters of Persian long epic poem ‘Shahnameh’(Book of Kings), October 15.

Written by Persian poet Ferdowsi (940-1020), Shahnameh comprises of nearly 60,000 verses, and tells mainly the mythical, and to some extent the historical, past of the Persian Empire from the creation of the world until the Islamic conquest of Persia in the 7th century. For over 1000 years, Shahnameh has remained one of the most popular works in the Persian-speaking world.

Titled ‘Immortal Characters’, the exhibition displays artworks by Tara Ahmadi, Sara Shirazi-Payam and Fatemeh Hosseinpur, ISNA reported.

The exhibition will be open until October 20 at the gallery located at No.9, the Second Mahmoudi St., Niavaran neighborhood.
