Passion Plays at City Theatre

TEHRAN.(Iranart) - The City Theater of Tehran continues to play host to passion plays in the mourning month of Muharram which marks the martyrdom of Imam Hossein (AS), the third Shia Imam. The passion play theater has a long tradition in Iran, the play of the suffering and martyrdom of Imam Hossein and his 72 companions in the day of Ashura.

Hamlet and Don Quixote go to City Theater

TEHRAN. (Iranart) - Directed by Tajbakhsh Fanaeian, classic plays Hamlet and Don Quixote went on stage for a live audience at Tehran’s City Theater main hall.

City Theatre pays tribute to Davoud Rashidi

Iranart- Marking the 84th birthday of Davoud Rashidi, an exhibition was held at the City Theatre in tribute to the late Iranian actor. Culture Minister Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Ali Moradkhani, Lawmaker Ahmad Mazeni, Tehran City Council Ahmad Masjed Jamei, Director of Veteran Artists Institute Seyed Abbas Azimi as well as veteran actors and actresses such as Ali Nasirian, Sirous Ebrahimzadeh, Marzieh Broumand, Ali Mosafa, Ali Dehkordi and Amir Esbati were in attendance. The ceremony was moderated by daughter Leyla Rashidi, who also cut a birthday cake in memory of her father.
