Tributes poured in for the late Jamshid Mashayekhi at the Iranian Academy of the Arts in Tehran on Monday. The program was organized by the Saba Art and Culture Institute, Roudaki Foundation, Cinema House, Farabi Cinema Foundation, City Council, Cinema Museum and Niavaran Art Foundation.

Officials, fans and colleagues lined on Saturday to pay their last respects to the veteran Iranian film and theater actor Jamshid Mashayekhi. Culture Minister Seyyed Abbas Salehi and Deputy Culture Minister Seyyed Mohammad Mojtaba Hosseini were among those attending the funeral procession at the Vahdat Hall. Mashayekhi died aged 84. He was one of the top five actors of Iranian cinema" who starred in such acclaimed movies as Kamalolmolk.

(Iranart) – Jamshid Mashayekhi, one of the “top five actors of Iranian cinema” who starred in such acclaimed movies as Kamalolmolk and Chrysanthemum, died at Tehran’s Erfan Hospital on Tuesday. He was 85.“Our father rests in perfect peace,” his children Nader, Naghmeh and Sam wrote in a post published on Mashayekhi’s Instagram.
Fans, colleagues and friends gathered for a ceremony on Tuesday at the Iranian Artists Forum to honor actor Jamshid Mashayekhi. Mashayekhi began professional acting on stage in 1957. His first feature film role was Brick and Mirror (1965, Ebrahim Golestan). He then acted in The Cow (1969, Dariush Mehrjui) and Kaiser (Qeysar) (1969, Masoud Kimiai). Mashayekhi commonly appears as an elderly grandfather because of his white hair and charismatic face and figure. He received a best performance award for The Grandfather (1985, Majid Gharizadeh) from the First Festival of Non-aligned Countries in North Korea.
