Maryam Khansari, director of the Damonfar Visual Arts Biennial's eighth edition, explained the entry request and how the festival's current phase differs from previous ones.
TEHRAN. (Iranart) – Sepehr Imanpur has won the top prize at the 7th Damonfar Visual Arts Festival.
Tehran’s Mellat Cineplex played host to the closing ceremony of the 7th edition of Damonfar Visual Arts Festival. Deputy Culture Minister Seyyed Mohammad Mojtaba Hosseini attended the program and Aydin Aghdashloo headed the jury. The Damonfar Painting Biennial, which is for artists under 25, has been held in Iran since 14 years ago. Damonfar is the Iranian representative of France’s Pebeo and Conson, and Germany’s Faber-Castell, as well as Windsor and Newton - companies that manufacture art materials. Quilo, the Iranian-German company producing markers, is also collaborating in the biennial. Faber-Castel’s managing director in Iran is Seifollah Pouya Rad. The biennial is held with a focus on painting, but works created with Quilo markers have also been added to the side-section programs.
The 7th edition of Damonfar Visual Arts Festival is underway at Tehran’s Mellat Cineplex until 8 March. A selection of 110 paintings by 57 artists have been put on view at the biennial this year.
