38th Fajr Film Festival – Closing Ceremony

The Fajr Film Festival handed out its top prizes Tuesday night. The Crystal Simorgh for best film went to The Sun, co-written and directed by Iranian Oscar-nominated director Majid Majidi. The film, a drama about child labor in Tehran, also took home the screenplay honor for Majidi and Nima Javidi. This year’s festival, which took place February 1 to 11, included 35 features, 10 short films and 10 documentary films.

Faramarz Gharibian Bids Farewell to Acting with Exodus

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Faramarz Gharibian, the 78-year-old star of such acclaimed movies The Deer and Beautiful City, bowed out on Friday from his 50-year acting career, saying that he has done his final performance in the Iranian cinema with director Ebrahim Hatamikia’s peasant protest movie Exodus.

The 38th Fajr Film Festival saw the screening of 3 movies including Reset by Mohammadreza Lotfi, Fathers by Salem Salavati, and I’m Scared by Behnam Behzadi at Tehran's Mellat Cineplex. Also on Saturday, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Abbas Salehi paid a visit to this year's edition of Fajr Film Festival which will run until 19 February.
