Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi opens two exhibitions organized by Sharjah Art Foundation
The Ruler of Sharjah opens Bouchra Khalili and Emily Karaka exhibitions
Iran Art: Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of the Federal Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, opens the exhibitions of artists Bouchra Khalili and Emily Karaka at Al Mureijah Art Spaces on Saturday.
Organized by Sharjah Art Foundation as part of its Fall 2024 program, both exhibitions showcase diverse works by two international artists who express themselves through various artistic disciplines such as storytelling, visual and audio performances, as well as accompanying text writing, innovative theories, and conceptual transformation.
In addition, they present multiple artistic styles and a broad vision, highlighting social issues, which reinforces the foundation’s serious commitment to presenting outstanding artistic experiences and opening the door to dialogue with all cultural and civilizational identities in the world.
Emily Karaka: Ka Awatea, A New Dawn is curated by Hoor Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah Art Foundation, and Megan Tamati-Quennell, of Te Ātiawa, Ngāti Mutunga, Taranaki, Ngāi Tahu, Kāti Mamoe and Waitaha descent, co-curator of Sharjah Biennial 16, with Amal Alkhaja, Assistant Curator, and Abdulla Aljanahi, Curatorial Assistant at Sharjah Art Foundation.
Between Circles and Constellations is organised by Sharjah Art Foundation and MACBA Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona. The exhibition is curated by Hoor Al Qasimi with Amal Al Ali and Meera Madhu, Curatorial Assistants at Sharjah Art Foundation.
