The first tax free art space in Dubai
Located in the city's tax-free zone, no less
Iranart: After New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul and Tokyo, the International gallery Perrotin will open its first Middle East offices in the DIFC tax-free zone of Dubai. It's going to be a small space - no more than 100 square meters - that will rival the likes of neighboring Christie's more than fellow galleries.
The space will focus mostly on secondary market deals, with an occasional contemporary art exhibition here and there. The idea of providing an auction house alternative came to the gallery founder Emmanuel Perrotin after his successful bout with dealers Dylan Lessel and Tom-David Bastok in Paris. He assessed that there was a huge hunger for blue-chip art in Dubai and decided to capitalize on it.
