Jafar Mahyari: The Chairs, Tunnel to Go on Stage in Canada
TEHRAN –(Iranart)- Writer and director Jafar Mahyari says his plays The Chairs and Tunnel will go on stage in Canada early next year.
According to Mahyari, rehearsals for the twin plays in collaboration with the Zendeghi Theater Company/Institute and the Sun Ergos Theater Company will be in the Canadian city of Calgary’s Theater Encounter on 8 April, 2019. They will then go on stage for two consecutive nights at the cSPACE King Edward theater house.
Robert Greenwood is the casting director of The Chairs. The main players are Mohammad Rahmani, A’zam Shokoufepour as well as 8 Canadian artists. Behind-the-scene crew members include Saeed Abek, Farshad Nedai, Reza Mikailzadeh, Masoumeh Arvaz, Sadat Rahimi and Amin Sheikhi.
Written by Jafar Mahyari and directed by Robert Greenwood, Tunnel’s cast includes Parnian Goudarzi, Nader Kiani, Hassan Rasouli, Morteza Sotbakhsh, Athena Golkhani, Misagh Bagheri, Saeed Mir-Isakhani and two Canadian artists.
Earlier, Mahyari staged The Chairs in Italy. He has also staged plays and organized international theater workshops in collaboration with the German Newpaltz School of Fine and the Performing Arts and French Le Kiosque Theater Company, in Iran, Germany and France.
Founded in 2010, the Zendegi Theater Company/Institute has held numerous international theater workshops, and collaborated with performing art companies and experts from France, Germany, Canada, Croatia and Belgium.
