TEHRAN.(Iranart) - The 1997 drama “Taste of Cherry” directed by world-renowned Iranian auteur Abbas Kiarostami (1940-2016) is set to have one screening at Iranian Artists Forum on May 7, Tiwall reported.
It is a minimalist film about a middle-aged man who drives through a city suburb looking for someone who can carry out the task of burying him after he commits suicide. Driving around the city, the seemingly well-to-do man meets numerous people, asking them to take on the job. Eventually, he finds a man who is up for the task because he needs the money.
Homayoun Ershadi, Abdolrahman Baqeri, Safar Ali Moradi, Hossein Nouri and Afshin Khorshid Bakhtiari are in the cast.
“Taste of Cherry” won the Palme d’Or, the top prize at Cannes, making him the first and only Iranian filmmaker to have won the prize.
The forum is located at Honarmandan (Artists) Park on Iranshahr Street.
