A spectacular exhibition with the works of established and emerging Emirati artists

‘Narratives of Belonging’ honours both the Emiratis who established the region's cultural and creative scene and defined the voice of the Arabic creative, as well as those who are building on the rich legacy of their forebears.

Iran Art: A look back at ’Narratives of Belonging,’ by emerging and established Emirati artists, organised by Dubai Culture at Al Safa Library.

‘Narratives of Belonging’ honours both the Emiratis who established the region's cultural and creative scene and defined the voice of the Arabic creative, as well as those who are building on the rich legacy of their forebears.

The show delved into the concept of belonging and what constructs it, whether it be a physical place, an object, a habit, or something more abstract, like memories. The artists examined how their connections mould them by looking back at the past and envisioning novel possibilities for the future.

‘Narratives of Belonging’ featured works by Aisha Al Hammadi, Alia Lootah, Dr. Afra Atiq, Eman Al Hashemi, Faris Al Shaffer, Hassan Sharif, Hessa Al Marzooqi, Hussain Sharif, Juma Al Haj, Mai Al Remeithi, Maryam Alzaabi, Maryam Bin Bashir, Mohamed Alalawi, Dr. Najat Makki, Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim, Nujoom Al Ghanem, Roudhah Al Mazrouei, Salmah Al Mansoori, Sara Al Haddad, Shaikha Al Ketbi, Shaikha Alyazya Saqer Mohammad Zayed Al-Nahyan, Shama Al Hamed, Shamsa Alomaira.
