Shams and Rumi Conference in Khoy
TEHRAN.(Iranart) – T he 3rd International Conference on Shams-e-Tabrizi and Rumi, two accomplished Iranian poets, will be held October 7-8 in the city of Khoy in West Azarbaijan Province.
Following the invitation for research and article submission by the conference organizers, its secretariat received articles and synopsis of research projects from several countries, namely India, Pakistan, Iraq, Tajikistan, the US, Serbia and Afghanistan.
A total of 16 articles were selected by the jury to be presented at the conference while 23 articles were chosen for publication, ISNA reported.
Rumi was a 13th-century Iranian poet who composed poems in Persian. His works have been widely translated into many languages. He was born in an Iranian family in the city of Balkh and passed away in Konya in Turkey.
Shams-e-Tabrizi (1185–1248) was a Persian Muslim who is credited as the spiritual instructor of Rumi, and is referenced with great reverence in Rumi’s poetry collections. His tomb is in Khoy.
