“Breath”, “The Salesman” lead nominations at Iran Cinema Celebration
TEHRAN –(Iranart)- Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar-winning film “The Salesman” and Narges Abyar’s anti-war drama “Breath” led the nominations at the 19th Iran Cinema Celebration on Sunday each with ten nods.
The films followed by director Hamid Nematollah’s movie “Subdued” with nine nominations are competing in several categories, including best film.
Shahab Hosseini, the winner of this year’s Palme d’Or for best actor at Cannes for his role in “The Salesman”, was nominated for the best actor award, while his co-star, Taraneh Alidusti received a nomination in the best actress category.
Farhadi will also contend for the best screenwriter award with Peyman Qasemkhani for his comedy film “Good, Bad, Garish”, Masumeh Bayat for “Subdued”, Mehran Kashani for “Daughter” and Soheil Beiraqi for “Me”.
Winners will be announced during a special ceremony in Tehran on September 12.
The Iranian House of Cinema organizes the celebration annually to observe Iran’s National Day of Cinema.
