Rahmanian to Stage Beyzai’s Old Script

TEHRAN.(Iranart)- enowned theater director and playwright Mohammad Rahmanian will stage ‘Facing Mirrors,’ a play based on a namesake screenplay by critically acclaimed playwright, theater and film director Bahram Beyzai.

Rahmanian, 55, holds a master’s degree in drama from the college of cinema and theater, Tehran Art University. He has over 40 works in his resume. On August 6, he will put on stage an adaptation of Beyzai’s screenplay ‘Facing Mirrors’ which never got a chance for production, according to Iran Student Correspondents Association (ISCA News).

Beyzai, 78, has authored over 70 books in Persian, including plays and screenplays, history and research works, as well as interviews and stories. ‘Facing Mirrors’ is said to be his most romantic work.

Written in 1980, ‘Facing Mirrors’ revolves around a series of events contemporaneous with the 1979 revolution in Iran. The script is Beyzai’s attempt to explain what led to the upheaval that overthrew the monarchy.

The script was released twice by Damavand Publication, never brought to picture, but will be staged after 37 years at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall for one month.

Film director Azita Moogoui is the executive producer of the show. Actor and casting director Habib Rezai, 47 and actress Behnoush Tabatabai, 36, will perform the play.

The first scene of ‘Facing Mirrors’ starts with a familiar voice. It is the voice of actor Parviz Parastoui, 62, introducing the show.

Facing Mirrors starts each evening at 6:30 pm. Vahdat Hall is located on Shayryar Blvd., Hafez Avenue, south of Enqelab Avenue.
