Farhadi’s ‘A Hero’ to compete at New Jersey festival
TEHRAN.(Iranart) -The Iranian film, ‘A Hero,’ directed by two-time Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi, will take part in the 10th Montclair Film Festival in New Jersey, the US slated to be held from October 21-30.
Farhadi’s latest film will appear at Fiction Feature Competition Section of the US festival on October 26 and 27.
The festival wrote about Farhadi’s film: “‘A Hero’ is an intricate tale of human morality, exploring the fragility of justice and how even the sincerest of intentions can somehow lead to tragedy.”
In its first international debut, ‘the 127-minute film won the Cannes Film Festival’s Grand Prix award, jointly with ‘Compartment No. 6,’ by Juho Kuosmanen.
Farhadi’s latest film has also recently been invited to the Toronto Film Festival, Sarajevo Film Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Melbourne Film Festival in Australia, New Horizons Film Festival in Poland, and Miami Gems section of the 39th edition of the Miami Film Festival in Florida, and the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado, the US.
‘A Hero’ is the story of Rahim who is in prison because of a debt he was unable to pay. During a two-day leave, he tries to convince his creditor to withdraw his complaint against the payment of part of the sum. But things don’t go as planned, IMDB wrote.
Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh, Fereshteh Sadr-Orafai and Sarina Farhadi starred in the drama.
Farhadi has received two Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film for his films ‘A Separation’ (2011) and ‘The Salesman’ (2016), making him one of the few directors worldwide who have won the category twice. He also received the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Screenplay for his film ‘The Salesman’.
According to nj.com, plenty of films will make their New Jersey debut at the 2021 Montclair Film Festival. The former Bowtie movie theater in Montclair has been renovated and is now owned by Montclair Film. The revamped Bloomfield Avenue theater will have its grand reopening at the festival, where it will be one of several venues hosting screenings.
After a hybrid virtual and in-person lineup last year, the film festival is returning to in-person screenings for fully vaccinated, masked theatergoers. There will also be some virtual programming.
