“Zavala” to screen in Venice Film Festival
TEHRAN.(Iranart) –Iranian movie “Zavala” has been selected to be screened at the Venice Film Festival as the organizers announced the lineup for the 78th edition of the Italian event, which will take place on the Italian Lido from September 1 to 11.
Directed by filmmaker Arsalan Amiri, “Zavala", will be screened in the venice international film critical week.
The film was a big winner at the 39th edition of the Fajr Film Festival as it was honored in several categories including best director, best screenplay, and best actor in a supporting role.
Pouria Rahimi Sam won one of the awards for best actor in a supporting role, while the film brought Arsalan Amiri, Ida Panahandeh, Tahmineh Bahramalian the award for best Screenplay.
It is about a village is claimed to be possessed, an atheist police officer attempts to denounce the exorcist in charge, whom he believes is nothing but a fraud.
The 78th Venice International Film Festival is organised by La Biennale di Venezia and directed by Alberto Barbera. It will take place at Venice Lido from 1 - 11 September 2021. The Festival is officially recognised by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Association).
The aim of the Festival is to raise awareness and promote international cinema in all its forms as art, entertainment and as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and dialogue. The Festival also organises retrospectives and tributes to major figures as a contribution towards a better understanding of the history of cinema.
