Iranian short film nominates at Cannes Film Festival
TEHRAN.(Iranart) –The 14-minute Iranian film, ‘Orthodontics,’ was nominated for receiving the Short Film Award of the 74th Cannes Film Festival.

The other nine nominees of this section are ‘Severen Pol’ (North Pole), by Marija Apceveska (North Macedonia and Serbia); ‘Pa vend’ (Displaced), by Samir Karahoda (Kosovo); ‘Det er i jorden’ (In the Soil), by Casper Kjeldsen (Denmark); ‘The Right Words,’ by Adrian Moyse Dullin (France); ‘Noite turva’ (Through the Haze), by Diogo Salgado (Portugal); ‘Sideral,’ by Carlos Segundo (Brazil and France); ‘All the Crows in the World,’ by Tang Yi (Hong Kong); ‘Céu de agosto’ (August Sky), by Jasmin Tenucci (Brazil and Iceland); and ‘Xue yun’ (Absence), by Wang Lu (China).
In addition, 17 movies from film schools within the Cinéfondation selection (directed by eight women and nine men) were also unveiled.
The half-male, half-female jury includes Tunisian director, Kaouther Ben Hania; her Swedish colleague (who is also an actress) Tuva Novotny; French filmmaker Alice Winocour; her fellow French director Nicolas Pariser; and their counterparts Sameh Alaa (Egypt) and Carlos Muguiro (Spain).
This year the selection committee viewed 3,739 short films.
