2 Short Films for Uppsala Festival
TEHRAN.(Iranart) – A short film and a short animation from Iran will participate in the international competition section of the 37th Uppsala International Short Film Festival, October 22-28.
The film “Umbra” directed by Saeed Jafarian and animation “Maned & Macho” by Shiva Sadeq-Asadi are to compete with 77 films from Germany, France, Mexico, Japan, Hungary and the Netherlands among others, Honaronline reported.
The drama, Umbra, is co-written by Jafarian and Fatemeh Abdoli. It follows a young girl roaming through Tehran looking for her friend. Mahsa Alafar and Banipal Shoomoon are in the cast.
It was screened at the 43rd Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month.
The short animation by animator, writer and director Shiva Sadeq-Asadi is about a young girl’s repressed emotions and instincts which emerge out of her dreams that embodied in form of some animals. However, no one in her family is receptive to the animals.
The animated film has been screened at the Annecy International Festival in France, Animest International Animation Festival in Romania and Anima Mundi International Festival in Brazil. Uppsala International Short Film Festival is an annual event held in Uppsala, Sweden, since 1982.
