Yousefinejad’s “Home” in Romanian Festival
TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Iranian feature film in Turkish language “The Home”, debut film of Asghar Yousefinejad, is vying for the Transilvania Trophy at the Transilvania International Film Festival, May 25-June 3.
At the event in Cluj-Napoca, a city in northwestern Romania, the film will be competing with eight other national debuts and three sophomore films, all representing the new generation of filmmakers around the world.
The film was the big winner at the 2017 International Fajr Film Festival. Participating in the main competition section, Home won three awards including the top prize of the festival, Golden Simorgh for the best film and Silver Simorgh for best script, ISNA reported on its Persian website.
Written by Yousefinejad, the story follows the aftermath of the death of an old man whose only child, Sayeh, refuses to follow her father’s will about his funeral.
Though a chamber piece (a film involving a small number of characters interacting over a short period of time in a limited environment), the well-executed mise-en-scene and fluid cinematography of Hamid Mehrafrouz does not bore the viewer as the camera never stops moving following the protagonist and her interactions as the plot unravels. The side characters moving in and out of the camera frame also help viewers get a better understanding of the overall frustration of the characters.
The cast includes Mohadeseh Heirat, Gholamreza Baqeri, Sediqeh Daryani, Narjes Delaram and Parinaz Pashazadeh among others.
