Iran to restore films from Qajar era
TEHRAN.(Iranart) – The director of Tehran’s Golestan Palace Museum has said 21 reels of films produced during the reign of Qajar king Mozaffar ad-Din Shah (1853-1907) will be restored for public screenings.
The restoration will likely be carried out at a laboratory in the Louvre museum in Paris.
The films show scenes of the historical events that occurred in the country over that time.
“Iran witnessed a certain chapter of the film industry during the reign of Mozaffar ad-Din Shah who was deeply interested in cinematography,” Nosrati said.
He said that the museum enjoys a large archive of films from that era and announced plans by the center to screen the films for the public for the first time.
Screenings will be organized in collaboration with the Film Museum of Iran.
The Golestan Palace Museum was registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2013.
