Jalilvand’s Film Wins FEST Jury Prize
TEHRAN (Iranart) - I ranian feature film ‘No Date, No Signature’ directed by director and screenwriter Vahid Jalilvand has received the Jury Prize of Belgrade International Film Festival (FEST).
The 46th edition of FEST was held on Feb. 23-March 4 in Belgrade, capital of Serbia.
On the closing night of the festival, ‘No Date, No Signature’ won the Jury Prize for “challenging the concepts of sin, crime and responsibility in a simple and powerful narrative”. The acts in the movie were described in the statement of the jury as “excellent”, ISNA reported.
The movie tells the story of a forensic pathologist getting involved in a car accident, where an 8-year-old boy is injured. The next morning, the boy’s body is brought for autopsy in the hospital where the pathologist works. Although the results of the first diagnosis indicate food poisoning, the doctor believes he is responsible for the boy’s death.
The film deals with moral dilemmas and is infused with a meticulous character study.
The second feature film by Jalilvand, 41, has so far won several national and international awards, including Best Director and Best Actor awards at the Horizons section of 74th Venice Film Festival in Italy in September, as well as the Special Jury Award ‘Silver Alexander’ and the FIPRESCI Jury Award at the 58th Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece.
With the Jury Prize of the 46th FEST, ‘No Date, No Signature’ has so far bagged 13 international awards.
