“Behind the Scenes” troupe counters Tehran air pollution

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – A troupe performing French writer Florian Zeller’s play “Behind the Scenes” (“L’envers du décor”) at Tehran’s Shahrzad Hall protested against the air pollution in the metropolis by a poster that depicts the cast members wearing gas masks against an image of the city choked with smog.

The poster was designed based on a photograph taken by Mohammad-Sadeq Zarjuyan.

Pejman Jamshidi, Rima Raminfar and Maral Bani-Adam are the members of the cast, which is being directed Ali Sarabi who also plays a role in the drama.

The troupe also tries to put the spotlight on the main theme of the play featuring people drowning in everyday life.

The story of the play centers on Daniel who convinces his wife Isabelle to invite his friend Patrick and his new friend Emma to dinner. The appearance of Emma, young and spectacular, acts as a catalyst and causes a real storm in the heads of the masters, upsetting their certainties, arousing frustration, jealousy and resentment.

Tehran and several major cities suffered one of the heaviest outbreaks of air pollution over the past week, during which schools were closed for several days as a result.
