Moaadi to Judge Greece Film Festival
TEHRAN. (Iranart) – A ctor, screenwriter and movie director Peyman Moaadi has been selected as one of the five-member jury of the International Competition Section at the 58th Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece.
The other jury members for the section include Palestinian director, screenwriter and producer Annemarie Jacir, Czech director Karel Och, French sound designer Bruno Tarrière and Greek actress Maria Nafpliotou, ISNA reported. Born in New York, Moaadi, 44, returned to Iran when he was five and grew up in Tehran. He is best known for acting in Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar-winning movie ‘A Separation’ (2011). His leading role in the movie earned him a Silver Bear award for Best Actor from the Berlin International Film Festival in 2011. He has also written and directed a feature film and written the script for five movies, all of which were among Iran’s bestsellers. Moaadi’s debut movie as actor in Hollywood was ‘Camp X-Ray’ (2014) which also featured actress Kristen Stewart. Since then he has acted in several other films and TV series there. Scheduled for November 2-12, the Greek event is known for supporting independent talent and has recently proven to be a hub for many fareastern filmmakers.
